Black terrier
When a former „Red army“ in former Soviet union was looking for its own army dog, a state dog kennel called „Red star“ started to breed giant schnauzer, airdelterier and rottweiler.
At the end there was a breed consisting of nearly 20 breeds (like caucasian shepherd dog, lajka, newfoundland, ...). The result was a very massive, but still very vivid and well manageable dog, who was able to satisfy extraordinary requirements.
This breed was officially acknowledged by FCI. in 1984 as „Black russian terrier“ in the Group III., but several years later his name was changed to „Black terrier„ and was registered in Group II. FCI. Black terrier has got very good mental and physical possibilities for nearly all of dog's sports and utilities. Blackie with a very positive relationship to his owner is able and disposed to fullfil all of the owner's wishes.
Black terrier was originaly strictly army dog, but soon especially for his joyfull and easygoing character he gained a lot of patrons from a civil life. Nowadays are blackies mostly the family dogs, but it is important to engage his temperament and force. It is very important for the breeders to think not only of exterier qualities, but also very nice traits of his character.
